It's getting harder and harder to come up with a unique defiinition for human.

Heathen Dawn is right that the mapping of brain functions is showing the physical/neurological basis of what used to be called "the soul".

It used to be "only humans use language" and then they taught chimps sign language, investigated whale and dolphin languages.

It used to be "humans only, make tools" and it was discovered that crows and chimps make and use tools.
Etc.

Sagan used to talk in Cosmos about how much DNA we share with trees and other life forms. I think our DNA is the same as the chimp in 99.7% of it??? Not sure of the exact figure but it's extremely high.

Yes, we have the same physical design, same organs, nerves, muscles, all with the same functions, as other land mammals.

Anybody who has ever dissected a cat can figure that one out. Also the fact that veterinarians now do everything and have the same specialities human doctors do, since animals get the same illnesses and conditions we do, and some of them are transmittable between us and them (anthrax, rabies, etc.)
