Apikorus
,

Scaurus is of course mentioned in Josephus (Ant. 14 and War 1) but
there the only killing he does is around Pella, in Arabia.

Offa,

Ant 14-033 So Scaurus returned to Damascus again; and
Aristobulus, with a great army, made war with Aretas and
Hyrcanus, and fought them at a place called Papyron, and
beat them in the battle, and slew about six thousand of
the enemy, with who fell Phalion also, the brother of
Antipater.

The above verse does not mention Scaurus doing the killng.

Check these verses out.

Ant 14-048 At this behavior Pompey was angry and taking with him
the army which he was leading against the Nabateans, and the
auxiliaries that were coming from Damascus, and the other parts of
Syria, with other Roman legions which he had with him, he made an
expedition against Aristobulus;
Ant 14-049 but as he passed by Pella and Scythopolis, he came to
Coreae, which is the first entrance into Judea when one passes over
the midland countries, where he came to the most beautiful fortress
that was built on top of a mountain called Alexandrium, where
Aristobulus had fled; and thence Pompey sent his commands to him, that
he should come to him.

With the mentioning of many countries and many cities one would think
these armies were able to fly from airfield to airfield. The truth is
that these locations are pseudo. Damascus is probably the Tyre located
a scant few miles from Qumran (Egypt). Pella is located close to the
"Holy Mountain" that Josephus calls Alexandrium. It is, in
reality, Jebel El Muntar. This mountain is also Masada. The ancients
would give a location several names and use these names loosely and
thus become worldly. Pompey probably travelled four or five
miles while visiting all the above communities.
