They say that Jesus preached to the people in hell, and they got to enter the gates of St. Peter.
Wonder if Satan gave Jesus any Hell souvenirs for his diplomatic mission? |

It is a common belief among Christians that Jesus preached to the souls of those who had died trusting in the promises made under The Old Covenant and brought them the Good News of their Redemption. there are 3 Scriptures that hit all the points: 1. "Hell" is "the place of the dead", and the Bible says Jesus died. QED 2. 1Pe 3:18 For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit: 19 By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison;{hell} Christian take these verses to mean that when Jesus went to the "place of the dead" he went there to preach. 3. And probably the most straighforward: Acts 2:31 He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption. Which shows that Jesus indeed went to hell. Christian say Hell is separation from God. Therefore by definition, God cannot be in hell, because that would imply that God is where He isn't. That raises several interesting points: A) How could God/Jesus be removed from himself? If God cannot be in hell, then how could Jesus/God have been there? B) How can an omnipresent God not be present in Hell? Either this is not true, and God CAN be present in Hell, OR, God is NOT omnipresent. C}Preaching to someone in Hell would be a waste of time, because everyone in Hell is already repenting for their sins. It's a ridiculous notion. D} If Jesus truly did descend into Hell, did he somehow fail to defeat Satan? If not, then why is this whole planet going down the potty tube in terms of morality? |
