^^ What he said. I love my pets like family members. I don't think that makes me anything other than pretty normal.

Edited: Oh wait. You describe zoophile as "mating with animals out of affection". Uh...
Why would you want to do that? I love my brother but don't need to mate with him. I love my dogs and cat and DITTO.

Nothing, that's pretty much it. Zoophiles would be, or have, been intimate enough with an animal to have sexual contact with it due to emotional bonds. tis how I see it anyway.

I'm affectionate with my grandmother, yet I don't want to mate with her. Why does your affection lead to sex?

Please note that I'm calm, and unattached while making this argument, and I'm not comparing it to paedophilia because I find them both icky and want something inflammatory.

Pedophiles also claim to have sex with children out of love.

Also, many children will outwardly make no signs of not liking the contact. Some of them will even enjoy it (on a physical level). With animals, it's even more difficult to correctly interpret what it actually thinks/feels. It's quite often that humans "humanise" their pets, and erroneously interpret the dog's acts as thoughtful ones, or meaningful ones.

Both contacts are one-sided - they're never initiated by the animal/child. In both cases the seducted one can display no signs of damage.

However, that says nothing about what actually goes on in their minds (many children agree to contacts with pedophiles out of a natural desire to please elders and listen to their demands) but at the same time be confused, up to deeply repulsed by the act itself. Similarly, pets get attached to their masters and can obediently override their conservation instincts for their masters (a dog that licks your hand after you strike him).

Both animals and children aren't capable of consent. They cannot comprehend what is happening and its implications.

Any relationship between an adult/kid or a human/animal is an imbalanced one. Both from a power point of view, and a level of consciousness one.

So a couple of questions:
While you may feel sexually attracted to animals, do you realise that animals aren't sexually attracted to humans?

How do you reconcile the idea of loving animals with the risk you take in harming them when you perform sexual feats with them?

How do you know your attraction doesn't prevent you from harming animals without you realising?

How is zoophilia different from pedophilia (except the object of consent).

good post olp. Pretty much sums up my concerns too.

I think its all to often that people will attempt dangerous things without the intent of harm, but are not going to look beneath the surface in case harm actually has been done. Though a dog may not bite, irreparable damage may be occurring on the inside, but ignorance is bliss, eh?

Having had my leg humped by a dog on one occasion and a budgie that used to ejaculate on my arm on a regular basis I'd say it's not so clear cut. Sometimes animals do behave like animals. I get your point though.

As for the zoophile I don't either get the idea behind you conflating affection and sex. My question is: Have you actually had sex with an animal of the kind that might produce offspring if you and your sweetheart didn't happen to be of different species?
