This becomes more obvious in the need for watchfulness expressed in Mat. 24:43-44 where we should not allow him to come as thief in the night, indeed very much like MacBeth who had this candle burning each nigth to keep one eye asquint towards the coming of the son of man, but who exactly will not come on account of that. Then, of course, this same watchfull servant will condemn others to hell in v.51 while he himself prevented the son of man to come in his life. This same theme is repeated again in 25:13 with the virgins, and that was already foretold in Mat. 24:14 where the son of man shall not come until the good news is proclaimed throughout the world . . . which then is the basis for the order of his 'great commision' in Matthews end. These parables all seem to elevate self aquired righteousness that remains a liability because the "house must be empty" I thought. |

. . . why don't we just call them all 'swine feed' that are dispersed from Mount Olive in Galilee as opposed to the parable of the Gerasene demoniac (who's name could have been Lazarus), as Gerasene is said to be opposite to Galilee (Lk.8:26) where these demons entered the swine and drowned in the [celestial] sea by way of illumination.
So there you are, there is a lot of 'pig feed' in Matthew for the enrichment of our own righteousness, but then, that is part of the 'iota' package that brougt fire down to earth. |
