Default Do you eat meat?

I know there are some health risks when eating some red meats in particular. I know what I'm eating is literally dead animal flesh, which bothers me in the back of my mind. I know it's not a pretty sight when they slaughter the animals, chop them up, and process their guts into shiny packages for the cold section of the grocery market.

But you know what? It's too good to pass up. There is no dinner plate better than a good medium-well steak. Bacon is my favorite breakfast feast. And I could eat crab legs by the bucket-full.

So, anyone else hear like meat, or are you a vegetarian?

I am an unashamed, unapologetic omnivore!

Don't crash in the Andes with me!

For my diet meat is an absolute neccessity whether it be chicken breasts, turkey breasts, egg whites, fish, or lean steak. I don't worry about the health risks of any of those things. If I die of mad cow or some other such thing then it will have taken astronomical odds to kill me. So I'll live with it.

It also doesn't bother me that animals are slaughtered in order that I may live. If someday the Star Trek thing can be developed where good food can be made out of thin air then I'd be happy to go with that.

I love me some meat. Ain't nothing better than a tender, juicy steak... maybe one that's been marinated... and some mashed potatoes and gravy, plus asparagus.... ohhhh....

I actually was a vegetarian for six months. I had a hard time readjusting my diet so as to compensate for the lack of protein, calcium, iron, etc. that I'd previously gotten from animal products. I know it's certainly possible to do so, but for me it was just such an unpleasant chore (and difficult budget-wise to boot!) that I gave up when the meat cravings got too strong.

'Bout twice a week. I don't prepare it at home, because I'm a lousy cook. With vegetables they just end up limp and badly mixed---but with meat, lousy cooking can make you sick. So I only eat meat when I go out, or in a pre-cooked form as in lunch meats.

I was a vegetarian for a while when I was younger, but I ran into nutrition problems. (Ya gotta learn to plan and cook for yourself if you're going to be a successful vegetarian). When I started eating meat again it was less satisfying than I remebered---the actual amount of flavor in the meat had gone down. Still good, tho, and I'm unlikely to ever again give it up.

Must I point out that I don't care what anyone else does. People who give a shit what others eat really annoy me, unless it involves the health of a dependent or actual poison.

I had a vegitarian girlfriend once attempt to gross me out about eating meat by telling me stuff like "you know, that's lean muscle tissue you're eating" and "ooh, that's obviously reconstituted breast meat. Do you know what 'reconstituted' means? Well, it means..."

The end result? For some reason, that bit of explanation actually made meat tastier. "Mmmm, lean muscle tissue... always wondered what this stuff was. *munch munch*" No kidding! Maybe I'm just a strange person.

Speaking of lean muscle tissue, I have to decide what I want for dinner tonight... hmm...

Goddamn it, we've got too much in common, Catalyst.

I like all my food to be thoroughly dead before I eat it. No live bats, etc. No live insects or worms either, unless they can survive a thorough searing on the grill.

Mmmm...meat.

Another omnivore here.

(BTW, medium-well steak? Blah. It's all about medium rare, baby!)
