Default Patrick Henry College and the US Gov't: some seriously spooky s**t...

I just finished poking around the web-site of the #1 college for wingnut home-school graduates (Patrick Henry College) and thought I'd post some interesting tidbits here.

# Creation. Any biology, Bible or other courses at PHC dealing with creation will teach creation from the understanding of Scripture that God's creative work, as described in Genesis 1:1-31, was completed in six twenty-four hour days. All faculty for such courses will be chosen on the basis of their personal adherence to this view. PHC expects its faculty in these courses, as in all courses, to expose students to alternate theories and the data, if any, which support those theories. In this context, PHC in particular expects its biology faculty to provide a full exposition of the claims of the theory of Darwinian evolution, intelligent design and other major theories while, in the end, teach creation as both biblically true and as the best fit to observed data.

SCI220 Physics with Lab (4)
This course covers the key points of classical and modern physics, with emphasis on unifying principles:
conservation of mass/energy, conservation of momentum, gravity, electromagnetism, thermodynamics, and
quantum mechanics. Skills in rigorous scientific thinking will be developed by solving problems, by doing
laboratory experiments, and by analyzing physical situations encountered in ordinary life. One unique
component of the course will consist of developing understanding of the government's role in the funding and
development of modern science.
Prerequisites: MAT100 (or equivalent course that included trigonometry)

Of the nearly 100 interns working in the White House this semester, 7 are from the roughly 240 students enrolled in the four-year-old Patrick Henry College, in Purcellville. An eighth intern works for the president's re-election campaign. A former Patrick Henry intern now works on the paid staff of the president's top political adviser, Karl Rove. Over the last four years, 22 conservative members of Congress have employed one or more Patrick Henry interns in their offices or on their campaigns, according to the school's records.

Folks, we are looking at the future of science in the USA under GOP control, and it doesn't look too pretty...
