Default 7th century Palestine

The history of these times seems to be having a major effect on what is happening in the mid-east today. Very few people know much about this period ... and what they do know is usually derived from Islamic sources.

I think that the Islamic history of this century is fraudulent.

Mohammed? Where are you?

There is no evidence for your existence found upon this earth.

I think you're a story.

Perhaps even more so than Jesus ...?

Well, even if the history is fraudulent, there are people today who profess certain religions. What to do with them? Forget about the lies of the past.

Ah - but when I point out to people that their entire knowledge of the 7th Century middle-east is derived from Islamic sources they have difficulty in considering the possibility that it may all be lies.

Stuff that comes from religious or political sources is bound to be skewed in perspective. Even history is often biased in its perspective though not so often false.

Why do the 'koranic' inscriptions on the mosque in Jerusalem differ from the same verses as they now appear in the Koran? Why do the earliest mosques point towards Jerusalem instead of Mecca, and why have the ridiculous story of Mad Moo's night-flight to 'the most distant mosque'?

Is the Koran the first time that anyone claimed that the arabs were descended from Abraham? IIRC, the bible lists certain tribes as being descended from Ismail, but I didn't think they were arabic ones.
