It just seems to me like you're doing a mockery of a christian more than an actual one. The above comment reinforces a stereotype of Christians that no Christian should wish to propagate. It may just be wishful thinking on my part that an actual Christan wouldn't come on here and embarrass the whole vine.

I'm sorry to follow Godwin's law, but it seems like the most apt example: Hitler had female followers. Having female followers doesn't make you a feminist. Jesus' theories on how you should give publically and how you should treat the poor well were not so different from the Jewish thought of the time. Jesus' teachings were not radically opposed to the Jewish thought of the time. It just suited the gospel writers to claim Jesus was vitally different in order to undermine the pharisees (who, though not powerful when Jesus is meant to have lived, came to hold higher authority after the reign of the Herods ended, when the gospels were written). Jesus never claims that women need the most help. Just because he is supposed to be a saviour for everyone doesn't mean that he has any interest in women's rights. Paul is the one who says that Jesus came for male and female and we all know his views on the status of women. |
