Thumbs up

This damned suppository has just spoken again; does that help?

Am very surprised that this very old thread keeps resurfacing.

Neato.

I love these kinds of stories. Especially from atheists.

You would expect of course that some theists would not know their ass from a hole in the ground as far as interpreting a little bit of strange reality.----------and attribute it all to GAWD.

But very rational atheists sometimes having problems understanding the so called "reality" surrounding them? Being a little perplexed?

Well now---that is something to be taken very seriously.

Duh. Atheists don't claim to have it all figured out as so many theist do. We are eager to figure it out, but we will not accept any old willy nilly, quick and dirty answer that the religious seem so fond of accepting.

When I was 14, my mom died. As she 'faded out' I screamed and as if she woke from the dead, she turned her head and looked at me for a second or so. After that, she turned her head up and died. I used to consider this a 'supernatural' experience.

When I was 15, I bought a tape recorder and set out to record the voice of my dad's dead friend. I went up to her grave sight, said hello and put the mic up to the stone and played it back later to discover a 'voice' comes on right after I say hello. I used to consider this a supernatural experience.

I'm 17 now.

Last year, I had two Christian athletes turn in research papers that were identical. It was almost as if they had copied from each other. Then, I realized that they both must have had access to Q . . .

Oh, I just remembered. Last night, all the lights on my car's instrument panel came on at the same time! It was creepy. Today I put on a new alternator belt and the next time I started the car, the lights were all off! Supernatural? Coincidence? You decide . . .

That is a little creepy. A slipping belt can do strange things. But mostly they just make a hell of a lot of noise.

And of course alternators are another story entirely. Sometimes they do seem to have gremlins.

Has anything supernatural ever happened to me? No. Nothing. Not a sausage, in 22 years.

Which is a shame because I've always wanted to open my fridge only to discover a smoke-shrouded pyramid lurking inside, and a voice intoning "ZOOOOL".

Funny you should say that. Twenty one years ago the prior owner of my house committed suicide in what is now my living room. The bullet hole is still there in the floor boards. For the first few years after moving into the house I had hoped for some kind of ghost or spirit to appear. Well it's been twenty years now and no manifestation of any kind. I was hoping to study the poor bastard. For a while I was disappointed, no free floating, full-torso, vaporous apparition or class five full roaming vapor.

I haven't had any supernatural expreriences myself. I did know a lady however, who seemed to have freaky powers that go well beyond turning lamps on and off.

Specifically, she could crash computers by phoning people. This happened a *LOT*.. she'd phone this friend of hers and this friend would go running to turn off her computer before talking to her.

And weirder things, too. Like whenever she called her brother at work, sometimes there'd be a weird *vvip* sound and he'd end up talking to his boss, and both the customer his bos WAS talking and the guy's sister cut off. This happened with fair regularity, much to his boss' ire and her brother's despair. The phone company never did ferret out any rational reason, though there MUST be one..

We asked her if she used her powers for good or for awesome, but she wouldn't say.
