I assume that you mean the claim about the Jedi, since the British Empire certainly did not start to decline in 1859, and was fairly robust until well after World War I; it was only after World War II that the Empire was dismantled.

hint: I think that biblethumper studies the gospel according to Boro Nut,
Better that than the Bible according to St Bastard!

Oh, there's an Eddie I. quote for everything:

Quote:
Yes, so this is all true. And so, yes. So in Europe, we had empires. Everyone had them - France and Spain and Britain and Turkey! The Ottoman Empire, full of furniture for some reason. And the Austro-Hungarian Empire, famous for fuck all! Yes, all they did was slowly collapse like a flan in a cupboard.

And the German empire, very organized, they’d always build an empire, “Eins, zwei, eins, zwei," build an empire, very Prussian, and then they'd celebrate with a World War! And then lose the whole fucking empire by the end of the war. In the 30s, Hitler, Czechoslovakia, Poland, France, World War II... the Russian front, not a good idea...! Hitler never played “Risk” when he was a kid~

...

So, yeah. There was a lot of that, and we built up empires - we stole countries! That's what you do, that's how you build an empire. We stole countries with the cunning use of flags! Yeah, just sail around the world and stick a flag in.

"I claim India for Britain!"

They go, "You can't claim us, we live here! 500 million of us!"

"Do you have a flag?"

"We don't need a bloody flag! It's our country, you bastards!"

"No flag, no country, you can't have one! That's the rules. That I've just made up...

...

And Queen Victoria became Empress of India. She never even fucking went there, you know?

...

So yeah. And after World War II, all the empires sort of dissolved.

...

So after World War II, the whole world was going,

"Come on, Europe, give these countries back. Come on, we just had a bloody war; let's give 'em back.

Britain?"

"Wot?"

"What's that behind your back?"

"Oh, it's India and a number of other countries."

"Give 'em back."

"Oh, all right. There's that one there, and there's that one…”

“Falkland Islands?”

“Oh, we need the Falkland Islands... for strategic sheep purposes!"

Yeah. And then it was a case of no empire no longer.

No?

Why am I not surprised- again?

Because this thread only serves as a distraction, a way to buy himself some time. When he wants to distract the other participants, he starts a new thread with an outrageous topic, and watches everyone run to the new thread.

... while of course purposely avoiding the threads that have been erected to address the very points he brought into assorted other threads as blind assertions but which for some reason he seems singularly unwilling to address ...

Two I can think of being ...

Where Is The Flood Deposit?

Where Are The Fulfilled And Wonderfully Accurate Biblical Prophesies?

I assume others can add to this little list ...

And all the while protesting his innocence:

And don't paint me as a question dodger, please. I have probably spent more time answering more questions on science forums than any other living creationist. The questions I cannot answer, I typically admit up front that I cannot and I set about to find someone who can.

Dave's inability to appreciate how he appears to others is quite striking. A general lack of sensibility must make him hard to deal with on a personal level, but as a creationist, he is invaluable.

I strongly disagree. The US was founded squarely upon the principles of general Christianity and adopted much from Mosaic law. The only sense in which it was secular was at the federal level. The US Congress was not to prefer any particular sect of Christianity over another. All this is made clear from the excellent original research done by David Barton in Original Intent.

Hi Dave,

I too live in Missouri. From the looks of your pictures on your blog, I'm guessing you're in the St. Louis area (your kid with the Cardinals cap was a dead giveaway, though I can't explain why a good St. Louis kid could ever in good conscience wear a Cubs cap!). I'm in the Kansas City area. I used to live in St. Louis for a few years (North County in the house, whoop-whoop!), but my wife is a KC girl & wanted to come "home" to raise our kids near their grandparents (I'm a country boy myself, from southern Missouri originally, though like you, I've live abroad for many years).

I belong to the this little humanist group in the KC area. It consists of doctors, lawyers (including a couple of real Constitutional scholars who've schooled me quite a bit in the secular nature of our Constitution; dare to guess how many times "god" is mentioned in the document?), scientists (including one fairly renowned geneticist), and an archaeologist/historian (me). I'd love to invite you to come speak to our group sometime if you're ever in the KC area. We get together at least once a month, sometimes more. We're a polite, harmless bunch and would promise you nothing but wonderful Missouri hospitality (at least 10 notches better than what that troglodyte from Cape Girardeau, Rush Limbaugh, could offer). I'd love to learn from you and to hear you enunciate your views. In turn, we'd love to share with your our collected knowledge & wisdom. We're an extremely open-minded lot, but also quite skeptical. And you know because we're Missourians, well, you'll have to "SHOW ME" (this is the Show-Me State, you know?!?!). So I hope you could bring some proof along the lines of what's found at your blog so our collection of professionals could work with you to arrive at truths.

Also, I note from your blog that you've owned a hydroponic tomato business in the past. My tomatoes suffered badly this year & didn't really give us much. Maybe during your visit you'd share with me a few tricks of the trade. I'd most certainly be exceedingly appreciative of any gardening advice you could offer.

Well, anyway, my offer is sincere. Hope to hear from you.

Your friend,

Tom Paine
