Guys.

Don't wreck the community.

CM lost it - okay, that's bad. Shouldn't have happened.

But that's exactly the point - it shouldn't have happened. The community shouldn't be divided, destroyed, or made into a warzone. That's WHY it shouldn't have happened.

Flouncing off in a (completely justified) snit will just cause more damage, will weaken the channel, and will destroy the very thing we all want to protect.

CM has apologised on-channel, I'm pretty sure the "incident" isn't going to happen again - so now more than ever, it needs your support and active presence. Yes, it sucks. But we just have to suck it up for the sake of the place we love so much. It's not like you're condoning continued oppression.

CM: perhaps an anti-inflammatory reflection on the factors involved in the incident would help put out some fires - especially if combined with some assurance that cooler heads will be the order of the day in future. (some of the pricklier types might need promises of sexual favours, but you made the bed...

Kissing the Net Admins ass is pretty much the same etiquette one has to practice in any online arena. You can't mess with the Mods no matter how wrong they may be. In this case, no one knew that CM was an Admin. He's gone now, but the other irchat Admin (Matt) is still there now.

Come back and reclaim our chat, infidels.

Yes, kissing admin ass is always wise.

However, you can't expect TOO much from people. Calling someone a gullible fool for trusting you... does actually warrant being called a fair few names.

This is an egalitarian society, after all. Don't we all sneer at theists who suck up to their draconian gods instead of expressing justified contempt?

Being so insecure as to get all vengeful over a couple of well-justified insults just earns you less respect, not more.

I don't really think you can ask people to shut up and take it under those circumstances. Take it, sure. Like it, or even shut up about it... no.

Probably just as well I was not in the chatroom at that time.
I'm reasonably sure I would have used terms far stronger than "dimwit".

Though I believe at some point I did refer to him as an "asstard".

CM has returned to the Infidelchat, but now he's just parking/lurking. Another IRC Net Admin, Matt, has been parked in here since last night. Matt was asking me to pay money for our space on their IRC server. I shared that with DH but did not save any chat/PM logs.
