Which Bible translation is the best to read to get a good idea of what the Bible is really saying?

A children's Bible with pictures should be fine.

I like my Oxford NRSV. It's got great forwards and footnotes that will guide you through.

I own several different bibles, but usually end up reading the web versions such as...
http://www.biblegateway.com http://www.biiible.com/ You can easily switch between translations to see the variations, and Google and iidb.org are only a click away when you have a question. Of course, my personal favorite is the Jack Chick cartoonized version... http://www.chick.com/catalog/bibleseries.asp |
