This was a substantive issue and Voce has to derail it to personal bickering. This needs to stop. Can we get back to the subject and substance?

Mohammed is a myth, just like jesus. There may have been deep in the centre of the myth a real human acting as a condensation particle but that man is not the myth, just as the tiny particle around which a pearl was created is not the pearl itself.
I could even argue the same thing about Hubbard. The human that existed, the fraud and science-fiction hack, is nothing like whatever mythical picture the scientologists have created. Look at Jesus for a second because we all know more about him than about Mohammed. Those that defend the real historical Jesus claim there was in the beginning of the first century a preacher in Jerusalem called Joshua, no more facts are really known. That is about the same as claiming that at the end of the 20th century there was a programmer living in New York called John. Probably true, also completely void of any real meaning. Big city, common occupation, common name... What of it? This makes debating these theoretical beings quite pointless. There may have been a Mohammed but he is totally irrelevant now and lacking any reliable contemporary sources there are no facts to discuss. |

I'll do my best to provide one, once I understand how to provide a reference for smiley buttons. It's a completely novel experience for me.
