No it is not. There have been, so far, three "Quests" for the historical Jesus, based on the idea that a real person in history can be found by a proper analysis of the gospels which discards the supernatural elements.

You may judge these quests to be failures, as some have on either the mythicist side or the supernaturalist side, but they are attempts to find a historical, non-supernatural figure.
Proper analysis of the gospels ! The gospels are the basis for the search for the historical Jesus, whatever Jesus you come up with.

<Rubs hands excitedly> Whoopeee! I cant wait. Why cant we also have chosen moderators - either one from an MJ and HJ camp or a neutral one. At any rate, I would like to analyze the debate and write up an objective opinion on it. I have seen others do this and I think they can be very helpful.

Once the formal debates starts, it will be refereed by the moderator of the FD forum. There will be a peanut gallery here for the rest of the world to comment.

Terrific - then we shall all be able to express 'objective opinions'.

I'm ready GD, I think maybe you have to also confirm in the proposal thread as well, then they'll setup the debate thread.

Enjoy

Might there in fact be some evidence
to support the unexamined postulate
of the HJ?

Evidence For Jesus - Archaeology

Evidence for Jesus – What Does Archaeology Reveal?

When it comes to archaeology, is there any evidence for Jesus? Do we have actual sites or artifacts that testify to the historical truth of Jesus Christ? Remarkably, over the last few decades, significant evidence revealing the life, teaching, death and resurrection of Jesus has been uncovered!
This site does not look too promising.

Best wishes to both debators!

"ALL ABOUT GOD is an amazing apologetics and evangelism ministry that was birthed in the heart of Saddleback Church, by our members, most of whom came to know Christ at Saddleback. It grew from a small lay ministry to a worldwide work of God because God has placed his hand of blessing on this exciting outreach. I not only recommend this ministry to you - without reservation - but I also personally use ALL ABOUT GOD to assist me in research for my own messages. I love these guys and I'm proud of the way God is using them."

What do you think of a site that tries to avoid the word "Christian" and claims to be aimed at skeptics and seekers but adds to every page "We have all sinned and deserve God's judgment. God, the Father, sent His only Son to satisfy that judgment for those who believe in Him."

It also serves to indicate the low-grade knowledge
of the actual state of the existence of evidence in
the field of archaeology, for early christianity.

Best wishes,
