Sorry if any of this is old news, but I came upon an article from the March/April 2003 issue of Skeptical Inquirer concerning an ossuary that reportedly contained the bones of James.

Now, it's been a couple weeks since the Discovery Channel aired that controversial documentary, but the ossuary Nickell talks about is the same one first mentioned in the documentary, correct?

Also, perhaps this article may be illuminating in some ways, unless all the ideas have been exhausted, I don't know. The possibility of forgery had not come to my mind, but now that I think about it, it may be one piece of the puzzle.

On a related note I'm a bit anxious to see if upcoming issues of Skeptic and/or Skeptical Inquirer weigh in on the Lost Tomb of Jesus documentary. In a case of bad timing, the analysis of such a thing would have been perfect for SI's current issue: one of their specials on religion and science.

There were also ancient forgers of religious artifacts, sadly. Even if everything about this ossuary pans out, it might still be an ancient forgery.
