How many believe in Zeus?
It doesn't matter. Entire kingdoms, republics and empires once believed in Zeus. Did that make him real? The majority of people have always believed in various false things throughout history. A thousand years ago we had a valid excuse for believing in superstitions. We don't anymore. It sure would be great if we'd all pull our collective heads out of our asses and finally grow up.

As Ubercat says, it does not matter why gods or goddesses go out of fashion.
The world managed to survive for quite a long time without your "jesus" you know.
