Default The next Christian who says this to me in real life gets a kick in the crotch

This phrase, and phrases like it, really gets me going:

Now, in I Love Jesus's defense, I can tell that he's trying to be polite about it in the thread where I yanked this quote from. I get the feeling he doesn't even grasp what a lame-ass cop out such a statement is. It's too bad, and i'm not angry at him so much as annoyed that I keep hearing this bullshit.

Afterthought:
Let me repeat, what you're about to read is NOT directed at I Love Jesus at all, but at other nameless individuals who consciously use such tactics to belittle people with different beliefs. It's unfortunate that well meaning individuals like I Love Jesus pick up such aggravating discussion catch-phrases. I don't think I Love Jesus even gets how rude this is. Perhaps this will drive home the point.

How many members of this board who've debated with Christians or who've been preached at have heard this when raising some objection:

Christian: "Repent your sinning ways, or you're destined for hell!"

Atheist: "Um, ok, so you think i'm going to hell?"

Christian: "Well, it is not my place to judge, only god can know what will happen."

Atheist: "But you just said i'm going to hell if I don't repent and change my ways."

Christian: "yes."

Atheist: "So you think i'm going to hell."

Christian: "I didn't say that at all!"

Atheist: "Well how else am I supposed to take it? "

Christian: "I'm trying to SAVE you!"

Atheist: "From what?"

Christian: "An eternity of torment in hell!!"

Atheist: "So you DO think i'm going to hell..."

Christian: "Of course not, only god can judge! I would never say someone is going to hell. I cannot judge."

...

WELL FUCK YOU YOU CONDESCENDING, JUDGEMENTAL, AND DISINGENUOUS ASSHOLES!!!

For fucks sake, pull your heads out of your asses and get it through your thick skulls that YOU ARE SAYING THE OTHER PERSON IS GOING TO STRAIGHT TO HELL!!

Fuck!!

Incredibly I find that I have more respect for the hatemongers who at least admit it and say "yes, you're going to hell unless you change your ways! Repent, evildoer!" :banghead:

I am so sick of this bullshit. If you're going to lie to me at least make it convincing, you dicks. Stop insulting my fucking intelligence.

[/super-rant mode]*

*This only happens when i've got a bad cold and i'm irritable. Like now.

Thumbs down

What is disingenius here is assuming that ANY person is going to stand there and allow you to get away with such an act. Last I heard, what you're suggesting here would be considered as both assault and battery, which could ultimately put you in front of a real human judge. Not to mention the fact that the person you attempt such an assault on might instead end up "mopping the floor" with you.

Also, you seemed to have left out what came before the "Christian: Repent your sinning ways or you're destined for hell!" part. Are you saying that some Christian just came up out of nowhere and directed this phrase towards you?

While we're at it, is this an example of the high atheist "morals" that are used to judge the morality of God here in these forums?

Let me tell you a secret: this is something we call a 'rant', not to be confused with the 'sarcasm' i'm employing now. Rants are typically not meant to be taken very seriously.

You're right. How dare I say to the evangelists "no thank you, i'm not interested".

Please refer again to my rant explanation. Apologies if this wasn't so over the top as to be obviously nothing but blowing off steam

You're right, how rude of me. What, pray tell, should I do to serve penance for my audacity?

My current hot button is "I know you really believe in God," and variations there of. It is making me freaking crazy. Can't people who say that understand how dismissive and arrogant that is? GRRRRRrrrRRRRRRRRrrrrrrrrr.

Thanks for the explanation. I understand and (believe it or not) agree about the behavior of some Evangelists also. Some of the ones on TV seem to really go over the edge IMO, and one of them (can't recall his name) seems to be more of an actor than a preacher (as the "please send donations to..." line clutters up the bottom of the screen). I don't feel Christianity (or any religion) should be USED for personal gain but, in this world, it is used this way every day. I also didn't feel people should have used (exploited, whatever) the 9-11 tragedy, but this also happened and is STILL happening (but that would be an entirely different thread, so I'll stop there). My solution (in regard to some Evangelists): turn the channel and watch something else.

Reply back,"And I know you like to sexually fondle little boys."

(I agree, that sort of supercilious "mind reading" gets my goat.)

Plognark's Morals: " The next Christian who says this to me in real life gets a kick in the crotch"

God's Morals:

Gen 7:23 And every living substance was destroyed which was upon the face of the ground, both man, and cattle, and the creeping things, and the fowl of the heaven; and they were destroyed from the earth: and Noah only remained [alive], and they that [were] with him in the ark.

So, the worst think Plognark can think of in his rant--which he did not carry out, I might add--isn't even one millionth as bad as what your God did.

Respond with 'I know you believe in Zeus/Allah/Athena etc' or 'I know you dont believe in God'
