This is something I have wondered about for a long time. Since so much of the bible narative occurs in Egypt, why is it that the pyramids are not mentioned?

The writers were never in Egypt, the Exodus never happened.

In ancient times, the pyramids were one of many demonstrations of the power and grandeur of Egypt, though the pyramids have obviously withstood the sands of time most ably. The hanging gardens of Babylon were likewise never mentioned in the Bible, though much of the narrative takes place in Babylon. The myth-tellers integrated only those cultural elements that they found relevant to their traditions and beliefs. Why should have the pyramids or the hanging gardens be mentioned?

OK, I give - what parts of the Biblical narrative take place in Babylon besides Daniel? Are you counting the Garden of Eden and Revelation?

That is your opinion, Toto. But others including myself would disagree with you. In any case, pyramids were irrelevant. Why would they have been important to the story? All the Israelites were involved with was the construction of two cities for the Pharoah.
The Midrashic sources have extensive discussions of what was going on in the Egyptian Paradise under Pharoah. As a matter of fact it is brought that he was so intent in encouraging the Jews to work that he started working himself in the beginning.

Out of curiosity, if they had been mentioned, would you think that would
add to, or subtract from your assessment of authenticity of the bible.

I take it you have rejected "They were irrelevant to the narrative" as a credible answer. Why is that?

Thanks for the question. I do not consider myself a scholar, but I have read the KJV cover to cover 3+ times and the NT in the New English version.

In my opinion a large percentage of the bible is sheer gibberish.

If the pyramids had been mentioned it might have raised slightly my estimation of the historical authenticity of it.
