Default Does the Bible teach against bigamy or polygamy?

Groundbreaking? Not a chance. Paul said that church ELDERS should have one wife, not all Christians. Why about Solomon? Regarding "it seems unlikely one can be totally committed to more than one wife", now you have gone from Biblical to practical, which I don't believe you really wanted to do. We already know that Jesus' teaching about divorce, or was it really his teaching?, is frequently not practical. For that matter, did Paul really say that church elders should have only one wife? It seems that you must defend Biblical inerrancy. How about it?

Your references from Ephesians and Colossians do not necessarily have anything to do with monogamy. Is the word "wives" not plural? At any rate, if God wanted this issue to be perfectly clear, he would have done so, but of
course, in typical fashion (inadequate teachings on slavery being a good example) he did not do so.

Jesus said to tithe, which means to give a tenth, but did you know that Paul said to give according to what you are able to give? I forget which Scripture that is. Does anyone know?
