As you continually refuse to read the text, aa5874, I'll leave you at this stage and perhaps someone more long-suffering will hold your hand.
I've mentioned before that one of the reasons that "mainstream scholarship" doesn't take the MJ hypothesis seriously and views it as the work of cranks is that in making their case, MJ proponents and HJ deniers frequently quote material out of context and engage in selective quotation.

It is interesting to me to see these charges against MJ proponents once more confirmed.

It is clear that No Robots and jgibson000 have
now reduced proceedings to the ad hominem.

What a pity.

You can easily overlook the metacomments and go back to the thread if you wish to present some... umm... evidence on the proceeding. You haven't done so thus far. aa5874 was merely following your lead, arguing your untenable reading of Julian. If you can see the error of your way, you might like to drop it.

Er, it was just a joke about 000J's distaste for nicknames. What a pity to have to explain that.:frown:

Would you care to back this claim up with evidence?

Is it or isn't it true that the A man (why won't he post under, and sign his posts with, his real name?) has engaged in selective quotation and a misrepresentation of what Julian actually says?

And if it is true, how is it ad hominem to point it out?

It may not be an ad hominem, but all the name calling and cheerleading is getting off the subject of this thread.

The major discussion in this thread has tangentiated to an existing
discussion thread entitled:

Emperor Julian's prime motive for writing "Against the Galilaeans"

Therefore I will not be posting further on this thread
and will be confining my comments on the issue at hand,
to this other (above) thread.

I wish to apologise to No Robots and jgibson000 for
reducing my input to inconsequential assessments.

I have no grudges against anyone here, neither do I
wish to cultivate unproductive discussion, when clearly
there is much research do be done across many
frontiers.

Best wishes,

Pete
