The Gospel of Luke was selected as one of the 4 Gospels solely for Ecclesiastical purposes....

"Centuries" may be an overstatement here, but the stylistic variations are real, and they do point to different authors -- I agree with River here. Consider the two creation stories of Genesis, which I had discussed here not long ago.

River, do you have even the tiniest shred of evidence that those Mohammed prophecies had ever existed?

How is that supposed to be the case? And are you sure you didn't mean the Gospel of John? That latter one stands out as being very different from the others.

And why is that? It would more likely have made the Old Testament if it was accepted as canonical.

Muhammad wasn't even born until c. 570, which is about 470 years after the last NT books were written. What on earth makes you think there were prophecies about Muhammad in the NT?

...because it was written at least a century before the events in the x'ian texts supposedly took place. the reason it didn't make the hebrew canon is because it wasn't written in hebrew.
