But the same ideas are present in Clement's reference to Marcion and the heretics in the Stromata.

And it is only with kooky members of this forum that the whole idea of a second century date for the heretics is 'controversial.' The point isn't to defend a second century dating but to have reasonable people debate over whether the heretics were established 117 - 138 CE or 138 - 161 CE. The statement in Tertullian that Marcion is to be dated to the latter period is - I believe - taken out of context.
