Default I guess this is what you learn at Preacher College

Or how to be a manipulative scuzzball.

From a thread on Baptist Boards, the OP is about tithing when you have a hard time covering the bills:
Quote:
However, my pastor said if we have faith in the Lord then He will make it work. So, I am going to have total faith and start tithing more than I have been. Lot's more. He told us to try it until Mother's Day and if at that point, we feel the Lord failed us then we can quit tithing.
So, is she really going to go up to her pastor and say "Yep, I'm afraid the Lord failed us. Gotta stop making those contributions,"?

Will the pastor give them a refund for services not rendered?

Yeah, I can see it now:

Pastor: Yes my sheep, I understand your car was repossessed, your mortgage company is hounding you daily, your credit card companies are calling at all hours of the day or night........but since god is good clearly he would have helped you if you had only prayed harder--obviously you didn't believe god would help you hard enough. So sorry. Remember Job and cut your whining!

The pastor didn't say which mother's day they can stop tithing.

Tithing, presented like that, is not only a flagrant contradiction of the Biblical teaching, but also of the Gospel. That man should be ashamed of himself.

Man... I sometimes wish I were a Baptist so they'd let me post there. :P

I don't expect so. That's why I don't post there. Besides, BB just make me mad, as opposed to a certain much more amusing site.

Heh. No.

Of course, you're a mere infidel. I'm a heretic!
