Here's the thing: I don't use smilies. If what I'm saying isn't clear, I prefer to recast my words until it is.

But that's my stylistic quirk. Some smilies annoy me (I know better than to say which ones), but they're hardly likely to drive me to be THIS angry, and honestly, I'm hard-pressed to see why they'd make anyone nearly incoherent with rage.

Smilies do not bother me that much. But as in anything, moderation is important.

I do find them useful when writing, they can replace the facial expressions one uses when have a face to face conversation.

So, no problems with smilies. But, I do hate the "new" English spelling as in Oxidizing Material's post
