Before you do, will you please tell us what you think of the quality of Jay's "guess" about pre Eusebian references to divisions of pre Eusebian writings is? Good? Bad? Familiar with what the facts are?

No, I will not, and I'm not sure why you care about my opinion, much less why you are badgering me about it. I am just the moderator, a/k/a the clean up crew and bouncer.

That's odd. You've never let this definition of who you are and what your job is limited to stop you from expressing an opinion before, especially when it was the validity of "historicist" claims that were under discussion. So there must be some other reason for your refusal operating here.

If I had to venture a "guess" as to what this is, it's that you don't want to be seen as admitting that Jay's scholarship isn't what it's cracked up to be. Who knows what else about the validity of the "arguments" that he makes in support of the mythicist position, and the actual amount of "knowledge" that his "arguments" are reputedly grounded in, you'd then cast doubt on.

But you can't speak to this, can you? You can't tell me whether my "guess" is valid. For you are, after all, "just the moderator, a/k/a the clean up crew and bouncer" and you'd be showing a double standard, as well as a violation of your stated understanding your purview, if you did.

Or maybe I don't see the need for expressing an opinion on something I have not read up on.

Locking to split off all this.
