Abe,

There was a reason that we were caring for you the way we were. In fact, to your friends' points, your safety was our primary concern. While you found most of the people you encountered to be kind and gracious, we understand that in an assembly this large there may be some who are not long on this road and are not mature enough in Christ to be charitable. The reason that Steve, and later I, stayed with you was to be sure that you didn't have a bad encounter. To put it bluntly, we were concerned enough about your safety following what you did to be offensive to all of those who attend, that we stayed with you. Our safety team are not "guardsman" - and you know that. They are there for the safety of all who attend - and this weekend it included you. I am sorry you misinterpretted our love and attention - but our time in the rain with you was motivated by a genuine concern.

Mark
Please forgive my tardy comment, but I just had to make it after reading this post. Pastor Mark perfectly illustrates what is wrong with religion. If an angry fundamentalist proselytizer showed up at an atheist meetup, no one would bother providing him protection from bodily harm. No one would think to offer him such protection because no one would think of causing him bodily harm.

Religionists on the other hand, need to be indoctrinated and trained to suppress their violent reactions upon encountering opposing views.

Temporarily locking for discussion with other PA&SA mods.

Edited by ELGS: this thread was split from PA&SA's "Abe's Atheventures, Ep. 6: New Year's Nuclear Option" and sent to GRD.

Sorry for careening off topic like that, nevermind the thread necromancy.

I'm not sure your brush is quite big enough; you should find a larger one.

We could limit the discussion to Pastor Mark's church if you like, but I think we all know that such sentiments are hardly limited to Pastor Mark's congregation.

Yeah, those violent Quakers really need to be kept from assaulting atheists every time they go out. Bastards.
