CNN Transcript with Jerry Falwell

Quote:
I do. You know, Heidi, the battle we've been fighting for all of these years as creationists is academic freedom. We propose that, as here at Liberty University, with 15,000 students, we teach both evolution and creation, both models. And amazingly, when you give the information on both models, overwhelmingly the students come down on the side of creation.
And the fact that Liberty is a bible college has nothing to do with that. . I wonder my Falwell didn't mention that Liberty didn't always teach evolution, but only mentions it now in their biology curriculum because they were going to loose their accredation.

What do you suppose "viewpoint discrimination" is?
According to "Creationism's Trojan Horse," it's an ID "legal catch phrase," so we can expect to hear it more and more often. Forrest and Gross say that it's going to be a focus of the creationist attempt to get ID into public school science classes by arguing that leaving it out, and hence discriminating against a perfectly valid alternative on the basis of its perceived religious implications, is a violation of the civil rights of students and teachers.

This is the document, written by Stephen Meyer and quoted in "Creationism's Trojan Horse," that states the ID position:

The term was also used by Congressman Mark Souder in an address to Congress about the philosophical basis of current science and the way it's discriminating against ID:

The irony about your comment on the petition is that Kathy Cox did remove the Revolutionary War from American History.
You've got to be kidding me. Seriously. No wonder America's edmication is lagging - people like this don't lose their jobs. You can't even pass that off as trying to not offend the fundies (except maybe the ones that think we're a "chirstian nation").

Well, there's two classes down, but at least Trigonometry and Gym are safe... for now...I hope...

What does Kathy Cox have against the Revolutionary War, anyway?

As far as gym is concerned, you'd better hope Ms Cox never gets hold of the Christian Institute wish list for Christ-based education.

Jesus-based gym

So far they don't seem to have come up with one on maths. One small consolation at any rate.

However, I think you need to make the differences stand out more, the bold text just isn't doing the job. Maybe you should use red for removed text and green for added wording. Alternately, you could underline added words and strikeout removed words. Either way, the removed wording needs to stand out with a glance.
Responding again because I have updated my analysis with documents from NCSE.

Bump. Analysis page has been updated with a response to the form letter that GADOE is sending out.

They are trying hard, aren't they? A list of examples of where they're mentioning evolution doesn't answer the charge that they're only doing a partial job of presenting it. Lying for Jesus is still lying.

BTW, Rufus, the word is "omissions," not "ommitions."

If anyone wants to argue that the GADOE is not lying about the standards, this quote should put it to rest.
