The Bible does not contain the characteristic untruths of other religious books. In Job, one of the oldest books of the Bible (written in about 3500 B.C.), Job wrote, "He [God] hangeth the earth upon nothing". Back then, people believed the earth was on the back of turtles and elephants and all kinds of strange things--you will find no such ridiculous statements in the Bible. The only way Job could say that the earth was suspended in air is by the Holy Spirit of God revealing it to him.

Now, an important prophecy to note is the one that says that Jesus will be crucified. Now, how in the world did people 1,000 years before Jesus know that he will be crucified when CRUCIFIXION WASN'T EVEN AROUND AT THE TIME!!! How can you just shrug this off?

Half-Life, it is against the rules to post unattributed material from other sites. Please don't do this again.

This is one of the most medically accurate statements that can be made. The blood carries all kinds of antibodies, nutrients, etc. George Washington died because the doctors (I'm sure they were the best at the time) bled him to death thinking that bleeding would help his condition--they took a quart of blood at the last bleeding. They drained his life out of him--"the life of the flesh is in the blood". Science was wrong.

When a man severed his hand in 1988, doctors could not reattach it immediately because of his internal injuries. So what did they do? They attached his hand to blood vessels in his abdomen to keep it alive and reattached it to the man's wrist two months later. The blood flow kept that hand alive--the life of the flesh is in the blood. The Bible told us this important fact over 5,000 years ago and science has only recently agreed. Does that mean that the Bible was wrong when scientists said bleeding was the answer? No. Science simply had not caught up yet.

This is the most important part. Why did the scientists drain Washington's blood? It was written in the Bible that the life of the flesh is in the blood.

The Bible also claims that spotted sticks in front of pregnant ewes will cause spotted offspring (read about Jacob and Laban). (The Bible also seems to think it's ethically acceptable for Jacob to attempt to stack the deck like that.)

The Egyptians felt that life was in the blood and used blood for fertilizer (perhaps that's where the Jews got the concept).

The Bible panics about eating pork but fails to mention the importance of cooking to kill salmonella and other far more infectious diseases.

The Bible contends a flood covered the entire earth yet other civilizations passed throught that time period unscathed. (BTW , various typical 'explanations' for where the water came from, such as suspended cloud, are absolutely scientifically fallacious.)

The Bible is no closer to scientific or historical accuracy than is Homer.

<edit>[Half-Life] has started about four seperate topics in the last two days, and never engages in discussion: he either abandons the topic entirely or continues to pontificate without addressing criticism.

Of course. This is what happens when you can't think for yourself. A two second search on google destroys all of his arguments. I wouldn't stay around either.

Um, no.

Just like with breath, people have always been aware that blood was integral to life.
