With all due respect, I think it's more likely a trap for the literalists than for the atheists. As I'm sure you know, we in the States - and especially those of us in WV's part of the world - have the questionable honor of being home to a sizeable population who take a strange sort of pride in literal interpretation of the Bible. Sadly, they do not find math, physics, chemistry or biology to be their friends in this endeavor, and to the enduring grief of their survivors, one of them occasionally finds rattlesnake bites to be just as fatal to Christians as to non-Christians. But I'm sure you already know all of this, too.

Back to WV's post, the potential for disease (e.g., cholera) would have to be absolutely staggering in such a scenario.

Cheers,

V.

Very good point and thanks for pointing out what we deal with here in this here part of the world.
I think the problem is that they are not getting is this is a line that stretches for 340 miles traveling at 6 miles an hour. It also means that at 10 across Moses would of had to hold his arms up for 58 DAYS.20 across 29 days. 30 across 15 days. you get the point the more people still makes the time unbearable.
The disease factor would have been apocalyptic. cholera, plague, leprosy would have been less prevalent at the front of the line but at the rear 58 days later with depleted foodstuff and feces everywhere the flys would have been unbearable, water undrinkable, and dead animals and humans would of also littered the side of the road.
it would also mean that Pharaoh would of waited 58 days before he decided to give chase. talk about indecisive. not only would he been able to prevent the great migration within the 58 days before the final person left his city, moses would of been in Jerusalem by the time he decided to stop them if he was drowned in the end of the line as the story says he could not of viewed moses unless of course we are to believe he stood there for several days holding his arms up for the people to cross. i am tired just thinking about it. talk about one big traveling stink.

340 miles is also the approximate distance between San Francisco and Los Angeles.

So since i am told that i have the numbers wrong would any of the theist wish to come up with a number that they can all agree on is the number of people. we can then work the numbers from there. Remeber though you all have to agree.
