I am certainly not malicious, but the fundamentalist Christian God is typically malicious. He kills people with hurricanes. I don't. I would prevent hurricanes if I could, and yet you call me malicious. If I had enough power, I would heal all of the sick people in the world, make sure that everyone always had enough food to eat, and protect everyone from violent crime. God does not want to do that, and yet you call me malicious. You morals are suspect. |

Dear Bible John,
1 Peter 3:15 (King James Version) But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear: I think I know how Johnny Skeptic feels. I was a Christian my whole life until just a few years ago. I am 65 years of age so I was a Christian for about 60 years, if you count my childhood. Once I realized that Christianity is a phoney, fable, falsehood, fake, fraud, folly, and a flawed fabrication, I felt fantasticly free. But I was also angry. I was angry about all the time and money I wasted on Jesus. I was angry about the stupid decisions that I made trying to live a Christian life rather than my own life. Now I believe that I must be an evangelist to the Christians, freeing them from bondage to the lie of Christianity. I suspect that Johnny Skeptic feels the same way as I do. He is zealous in his new calling. stuart shepherd |

I've never notice Johnny do anything but start a whole lot of threads a la Linda Richman.

I can't recall ever seeing him attack Jesus. Certain Christian ideas about Jesus, perhaps, but not Jesus himself. I could say similar things about whether he attacks God. He may have attacked Christians a few times, though again, I can't recall having seen him do that. He certainly attacks Christian ideas a lot, but surely it's okay to attack ideas. Especially on a discussion board. There's something about Bible John's beliefs that makes him interpret Johnny Skeptic's arguments as personal attacks. That alone is a strong indication that those beliefs are worthy of being attacked. A Johnny-Skeptic-style thread could be started on that very topic. Perhaps: "Another Christian tactic: Suppressing dissent by making dissenters feel like they're being too impolite." |
