I said, no, Josephus wasn't even born in the early first century; he was born in 37CE, and only wrote Antiquities of the Jews in 93CE, which would have made manuscripts from the early first century impossible. And then he gave the above quote. His problem was that he made the little goof of thinking we have manuscripts from ~100CE, and called that the "first century" instead of "second century". But he's totally unable to admit even the smallest mistake, so he went on that rant instead admitting an itty bitty mistake. I hope he's not Catholic, or else that personality trait could make Confessions rather torturous for him.
