Default Baffled by MindReader website

Somebody sent my a link for this siteMind Reader and it has been able to pick out my card every single time.

Does anybody have a clue as to how it works?

Anyone who hasn't seen this trick should check it out, it's fun to try to figure out how it could work on your own...but for anyone who's stumped, the answer is below...

...look carefully at the six cards they initially give you to pick from, and then the set of five cards at the end where they say your card has been removed. If you compare them, you'll see they've actually given you five completely different cards, none of which was in the original set.

all the cards are replaced.

The first set has King of Hearts and Spades, the next set, King of Diamonds and clubs.

Argh.. you beat me by one minute!!!

Yup.

Try again. Write down all six cards on the first page, then select one of them.

Then go to the second page and compare the cards you wrote down to the 5 cards on the second page.

I think you'll get it.

Edited to add: That's what I get for being such a slow typer.

Heh! This is why it is so easy for magicians and fakes to dupe people. You are tricked into paying attention to the wrong part of the process!

This is an OLD magic trick of a category called 'packet tricks'.

If you want to do this in 'real time', you just need two bundles of cards- one with 5-6 cards, one with one less. The real psychology is in the construction of the bundles- they need to 'feel' identical.

What is really pitiful is the whole thing is just a simple flash thing with the exact same set of cards (if you reset). This makes it really simple to recognize what is going on. Yes, I do wonder how much they've made on people looking for the answer... and whether they feel like suckers when it is revealed.

Poor Adamwho... just remember that this sort of slight of hand has been going on for thousands of years...

It's to do with "9". An old math's "trick". We use "base 10" numbers. Look for the pattern - think "nine".... You'll get it.
