Default Slavery in the bible.

I know that slavery is, at the least, condoned by the bible – even in the 10 Commandments. I’m in a debate on a Christian forum of laws of man vs. laws of god. I want to bring up the question of slavery. Are there any passages that outright condone it? I seem to remember something about beating slaves but cannot remember the chapter and verse. Is there refutation of slavery in either old or new testaments? Thanks.

See this recent thread and the links referenced within it, in BCH: Does Jesus condone slavery?
