Default God is real

God is real, otherwise how can you explain love and music? They're like magic and you can't explain it, it must be a gift from god.

Hello and welcome. This is the Evidence of God forum, and for a discussion to ensue, you should provide..evidence. Love and music are not evidence of any deity.

Also, your profile says you are a weak atheist. What gives?

More of the "humans aren't worthy and/or good enough to sense anything on their own" argument.

I pity those who have to use god to see beauty in the world. I can see and appreciate it fine without some supernatural assistance.

I'm in love with my partner, I'm also a musician and write songs and play guitar for a band called Blue Gheko.

I'm also an atheist. Indeed, I used to be fully signed up born again xian fundie, so I know fully what it is I'm rejecting. Surely in the sight of god that makes me the worst possible kind of atheist.

Why would god alow me to enjoy being in love and making music? Why give a magical gift to someone who's totally rejected him?

I'm in love, I make music, I'm an atheist. My religious stand makes no oxymoron against these two claims. Neither is evidence of a deity, much less your deity.

You've also just proved that God is God of the Gaps by saying love and music are both unexplainable (which they kind of are).

You have single-handedly proved to me that in today's society of the logical thinker, that when people need a quick answer to anything unanswerable or unexplainable for the current time, they'll God as spackle in the cracks and gaps in our scientific knowledge.

Well, she's irresistable, up close and personal.

Neither music nor love are 'magic'. Biologically-speaking, the appeal music may be a little harder to understand than love, but it can be discussed.

The Biological Bases of Music provides some ideas re: biology and music.

I'm not endorsing any of the ideas within, just that it is an interesting piece that also provides some sources for further study.

Music is nothing but sound vibrations. We humans, being patterning loving creatures, prefer those sounds that blend in with each other (well, for the most part ). As for the pleasure or lack thereof that that music may bring, that's probably a similar neurochemical reaction as the love issue. To say it's "neurochemical" BTW doesn't simplify it into a basic chemistry equation. Indeed, chemistry can be quite complex...

But again, there's no mysterious force up above steering all this around, whether it be two people in love, a lovely sunset, enjoying a musical piece, or the morality of a decision. Saying goddoesit is just a theist's way of not thinking about the complexities of life.

Indeed, and isn't it funny how theists are happy to say Goddidit when it comes to love, music and sunsets but not so happy to give God the responsibility for the nastier aspects of existance

I hate hip-hop "music". I must be the devil.
