Yeah, no fantastic magical tales in the bible after all.

Sorry fundies, but if I want magical stories I'll stick with Rowling or Tolkien, the writing is much better.

  1. Some fans mimick this marking by giving themselves a lightning bolt on the forehead. This marking causes some concern, as the lightning bolt, in mythology, is known as Thor's calling card (the god of thunder, rain and fertility), later used by Hitler's Nazi party in the form of two crossing lightning bolts (according to Christine Hall's February 3, 1999 article in ESP Magazine.)
These people are seriously the fuck scary retarded.

Meh, the Nazi thing isn't totally off. When a friend of mine went as Harry Potter for Halloween (he is a little person, so it was pretty freakin' funny) he asked me to make the bolt on his forehead.

Yeah, I totally did the singular form of the SS bolt, my bad. Honest mistake.

Christians are so fucking silly. WTF? I've met nimrods like the sheep who would gobble this crap up IRL. It's amazingly easy to talk them out of this shite but they are so insulated they rarely meet anyone who isn't a total fucking drone for the Cause.

There shall not be found among you anyone who …practices witchcraft, or a soothsayer, or one who interprets omens, or a sorcerer, or one who conjures spells, or a medium, or a spiritist, or one who calls up the dead
What about dream divination in the OT? What about Jesus resurrecting Lazarus? What about interpreting the star as an omen of Jesus' arrival?

Bah. The more I see of Christianity the more glad I am to be shed of it.

I have never fully understood the inclination to persecute that Christianity follows, particularly when claims of like persecution are regularly forwarded by the same. Between attempts to ban books they don't like, ignoring the "Sins" of their own leadership, and judging everyone other than themselves....it's amazing to me these people have not yet become extinct.

Well, don't forget, the Nazis usurped a lot of previously innocent symbolism.

The Swastika used to be a Native American thing.

This one gets me:

Um...we DO have Wiccans and Neopagans all over the country saying "This is not a true representation of our religion." Ask any Pagan who has read the books whether the wizardry depicted therein is anything like what they practice, and you will get a hearty "Fuck no!"* in response.

*Actual wording may vary. Check your local coven for details.

Ahh, I love it when Christians use the Old Testament to condemn "secular" things like this. In this case, they used the oft-quoted passage from Deuteronomy condemning witchcraft and what have you.

Cherry pick much?
