Default Is this Christian morality?

In this thread, Magus55 announced he enjoys natural disasters, because they don't affect him in any way. Is this typical of Christians?

Wow, way to misread my words. I said it doesn't affect me in anyway that you think God is responsible, since I don't think he directly creates disasters to kill people. You said it doesn't affect you, because it's my theology not yours. Well, it isn't my theology either since I don't hold to the position that God uses natural disasters to routinely kill people.

As to my liking my disaster - I like the mechanics behind them. I'm fascinated by nature's fury. I don't like that they kill people.

And who or what created the mechanics and the nature and the fury?

Perhaps this sort of thing is often seen among fundies, but among everyday Christians I think that's a very bad generalization to make. Pat Robertson probably got a kick out of seeing New Orleans drown, but lets not forget the many Christian groups that came to the aid of the people who had been affected by the hurricane. I'd like to think that that kind of behavior is more typical of your average Christian.

Magus55, I have a question for you. I have nothing against floods, tsunamis and viruses, I don't think they're proof of a non-benevolent god or proofs of the non existence of a benvolent one.
But what about genetic diseases?

And by the way, New Orleans is not the only place on earth where a flood occured. It may be the only interesting one for you though. In case you don't know about the others, there are some places on the surface of this planet where tsunamis, earthquakes and whatnot occur far more often. People just don't have a choice except to live in thoses places. It's a bit... overcrowded. Or, they could all move to Minnesota but I'm not sure they'd be welcome.
Then again, there are places where eathquakes never happen, then all of a sudden, WHAM! Ooops, sorry, didn't happen since 1698, totally forgot about them. Forget my own head next, my mistake.
Seriously, you can't blame human stupidity for all this. I agree with you they are not proof of god's "mischieviousness", but you should be able to find better arguments.

(I posted that in the agnostic vs atheist thread before reading this one, i thought it better to put it here)
