blindwatchmaker wasn't asking Magus to stay out of the thread; he was suggesting Magus stay in the thread only if he were willing to participate in reasonable discussion.
Yes, that was pretty much my point. Chances are that with blindwatchmaker's understanding of what is reasonable discussion die-hard apologists may find it difficult to be able to say anything at all without stepping beyond the given limits...

...but going further about this will only serve to derail this discussion, so I'll just return to shadows and keep on lurking, so never mind me

I don't understand how God could write something that wasn't perfect enough to be simple, clear and relieve any doubt in your mind.

I guess its just another test of faith..

Magus is notable for his absence.
It takes about four days for him to forget all of the evidence that challenges his world view.

If one would consider this a less-than-charitable estimation of his worth--a veritable floccinaucinihilipilification of his frustrated protestations--know that nothing has been offered new from him and, further, that previous sincere offers of information that he could then debate rather than cast aside in an avalance of fallacy have been . . . well . . . cast aside in an avalance of fallacy.

Happy New Year as well--Seed passes a glass of Moet. . . .

People always make things more confusing and harder than they need to be. And there also is some confusion and ambiguity from the translation. Its not easy to convert ancient Hebrew, Greek and Aramaic into perfect English.

so you mean when the bible says something absurd and laughable- it's merely a translation error?

well- now it all makes sense...

Meaning that the whole of the bible is open to interpretation.

Anyway what was written in aramaic? Thought that was just the language they spoke and that it was all written in greek.

OK Now I get it.

When the Bible says in Genesis 2 that man was created from the dust of the ground when there were no plants even though God had created all the plants and trees in the previous chapter (and man too for that matter) we can explain this by saying either:

a) The translation accounts for this logical impossibility or

b)You mustn't take everything in the Bible literally. Some things are just metaphors.

What is so great about this is that we can then apply these two standards to any verse in the Bible.

So for instance, when God says that no man shall lie with another man as with a woman, he isn't saying that homosexuality is a sin.

To conclude that would be to forget our special rules.

Lets apply our new found interpretation techniques and see what we get.

a) Possibly something has been lost in the translation from ancient greek.
What he really meant by "no man shall lie with another man as with a woman," is "Long live gay rights! Same sex marriages all the way! What a beautiful thing to see two men so in love!"

b)You mustn't take everything in the Bible literally. Some things are just metaphors. "No man shall lie with another man as with a woman," is really just a metaphor. He doesn't really mean that obviously. What this really means is "Long live gay rights! Same sex marriages all the way! What a beautiful thing to see two men so in love!"

I'm so pleased to have an understanding of God's holy word now. I'm just off to explain this new insight to all my Christian friends.
