Default Best Movies of 2004

What do you think were the best films of last year? Most surprising and disappointing? Worst? Now there are still some movies from last year I want to see, such as "Sideways", Million Dollar Baby", "Closer", "Garden State", and "Hotel Rwanda" , so this list could change in the future. Anyway:

10. "Spartan"
9. "Spiderman 2"
8. "Ray"
7. "The Bourne Supremacy"
6. "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind"
5. "Kinsey"
4. "Collateral"
3. "The Life Aquatic"
2. "The Aviator"
1. "Kill Bill: Vol. 2"

Most Surprising - "Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle"

Most Disappointing - "The Village"

Worst - "Napoleon Dynamite"

Eternal Sunshine tops my list, with anything else a distant second. I think it's one of the best films in cinematic history. Seriously.

I also liked Napolean Dynamite. But I'm pretty freakin' weird, myself, so I can identify with it. I've seen it twice - in the theater!

There seems to have been some kind of typing mistake. Naturally you will want to reinstate The Incredibles at number one.

I can't even come up with 10, much less in a particular order. Kind of an "eh" year for movies (also, I have not watched what are almost certainly some of the better offerings, particularly Hotel Rwanda, which from everything I have heard is excellent. I also have not seen Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind . I did have trouble getting out to see movies, but one thing I am realizing as I am seeing DVD advertisements is how many films I saw that were so utterly forgettable that I didn't even remember I watched them.

50 First Dates I thought this movie was surprisingly good (particularly with Adam Sandler in it). It dealt with its premise honestly, and the characters were appealing (well, except for the Rob Schneider character, him I could have done without)

Spider-Man 2 The first film was good, this one was better. The direction they went with Doctor Octopus was different (he was much more sympathetic), but it was nevertheless very well done.

Kill Bill Vol. 2 This was a good movie, but I really tend to consider it a continuation of Vol. 1, so I tend not to consider it a 2004 movie.

The Incredibles May well be the best film that I have seen this year. Very solid.

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban By far the best of the Harry Potter movies. The kids playing the roles have really matured into their parts.

The independent movies I have seen this year by and large have been disappointing to me. I thought Ginger Snaps part 2 (a direct to video release) was well done, if depressing in the end.

Ray
The Incredibles
Shrek 2
Finding Neverland
Spiderman 2
Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle
Harry Potter 3 (I agree, the kids are getting better)

There are several I still want to see.

I thought that KillBill2 and the Bourne Supremecy were bloody good but Eternal Sunshine gets the number 1 slot IMO.

I thought that Napoelan Dynamite, though worth a couple of chuckles, basically sucked and agree that the Village was a real letdown.
