Only the ones who state that this or that antique personage is historic based on assumptions. The ones who say that at present they have no way to ascertain if this figure is historic I have no problem with.

Wrong! You still don't get it - you still have no fucking clue.
As to why you think that you can misrepresent your facts and get a pat on the head for it? No, I don’t have a fucking clue as to where you get the balls

Am I talking to a brick wall?
No, you are talking to a working scientist with an IQ in the top half of the top one percent of Americans who is tired of your game.

You have yet to show how they're derivative. All you have is merely two similar ideas with no connection.
It’s tremendously arrogant of you to dismiss the subject of comparative mythology when you are abysmally ignorant of the subject

Quote:
The University of Memphis is a Christian school? Whoah, I wonder how I missed that!
Ah, but I guessed right that you are only a college kid. That makes your poor scholarship and worse behavior understandable if not excusable.

Quote:
You are employing double standards, and at the same time calling me dishonest. And you expect me to apologize? You're a joke.
Apologize because you aren’t telling the truth. I never fell for your idiotic Christian apologetic, nowhere have I shifted standards.

Quote:
Dismissing all the evidence without good reason is also dishonest. Pot, meet kettle.
Are you in college on some sports scholarship? Surely your grades weren’t high enough. Let me type this slowly… you have repeatedly been asked for evidence of an HJ and you have given none. I cannot possibly dismiss evidence as no actual evidence has been presented. What you did present was the admission that you were assuming an HJ. And if you are assuming one you are doing so because you do not have one.

Critical scholarship? Looking at two similar traits and calling it a dependence is not critical scholarship.
No. I see reading comprehension is a problem for you too.
Let me repeat myself then. All the stories about Jesus in the NT come from other religions in Europe and the Middle East. Every single last one. There are no original stories in the NT. If you did not treat scripture as though it existed in a vacuum, if you studied it in context of the society it originated in you would already know this.

In any other field, it's called stupidity. Hey, the Aztec pyramids came about in 1500 CE, but the Babylonians came about in 2000 BCE! The Aztecs must have seen the Babylonian pyramids!
How can you mention stupidity as you are writing something so incredibly stupid? Don’t you think before you type?
The center of the Dionysian religion from before 1500 BCE was the holy trinity which consisted of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. In the first century CE the Dionysian religion was extremely popular across Turkey, through Greece into Italy all the way up to Britain. It also extended down to Eastern Spain across all of North Africa and back up to Turkey.
How is this like Babylon and the Aztecs college boy?

Quote:
Fuck the church. What does it have to do with now? I am not the church.
Don’t ask me kid. You were the one who brought up the debunking apparently without knowing what it actually was

Quote:
Are you really that dense? I just fucking mentioned it - obviously I am aware of it!
Nothing obvious about it. You appear to be pitifully oblivious to anything concerning the bible that isn’t in the bible.

Quote:
Oh please, Mr. Zoologist, tell me about the literary parallels between Euripides' Bacchae and Galatians! Can't you please?
Oh, haven’t you read Euripides? No apparently not.

Quote:
You wouldn't know scholarship if it punched you in the face. HELLO-O! ANYONE HOME!
There, there don’t cry. Those adolescent hormones can be rough.

Quote:
I've been asking what do you want - a fucking birth certificate?! WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU WANT!!!
Yes that would do fine thank you. Any sort of hard documentation would do.
Ya know I once went to a museum in Italy that had an exhibit on a guy called Apollonius of Tyana and they had all sorts of his personal possessions (busts and the like) and documents from his life time pertaining to him. He’s long forgotten but he also lived in the first century and was credited with exactly the same healing miracles that Jesus was. He was the head of a religious group in Rome itself that, strangely enough, also called themselves “Christians” only their Christ wasn’t Jesus. It was a god from India called Christ or Christna that Apollonius became involved with when he went on a pilgrimage to India following Alexander the Greats foot steps. Alexander’s lieutenants followed this religion and Apollonius revived it. He directed it mainly towards middle and upper class women, as opposed to the Christianity we are more familiar with.
Any piece of evidence similar to that which shows that obscure Apollonius is historic will do just fine.

Quote:
That's clearly wrong. There's plenty of archaeological evidence
No there isn’t. There’s not a church, there isn’t a single piece of art that predates the fourth century

Quote:
- we have manuscripts dating to the second century! But he refuses to accept them. We have inscriptions dating to the first century. But he refuses to accept them. That's plain obstinance.
Probably because the dating methods used for manuscripts are so unreliable. You can’t blame them for not using more accurate methods though, since those would require destruction of pieces of the manuscripts themselves. Maybe someday there will be accurate tests that do no harm. Until then the church scholars will ASSUME the earliest date possible.

Oh I'm sorry, I forgot that studying animals is directly related to Biblical research. After all, didn't Jesus sit upon an ass?
It’s scientific inquiry itself of which you obviously know nothing of.

Quote:
Wrong. Have all the PhDs you want in zoology, but you still know jack shit when it comes to history.
What I know are honesty, integrity and ethics. I know that to not label an assumption as an assumption is to lie. I know that the only honest answer you can give to the question of is there a Historic Jesus is “I don’t know. Maybe.”
