so I just spent 6 hrs in an rr chat.

my planned argument was

hell = torture
god tortures
if god tortures, we can torture
if we cant, then
either god can ethically torture, and might makes right
or he cant, and he has done evil

thus starting arguments on moral relativism or the ethics of following god.

first, hell isnt torture, its punishment.
god doesnt punish, we choose to seperate ourselves
christians who torture arent real christians

thats as far as I got. 6 hrs.

Idiots. The two aren't mutually exclusive.

In fact, hell fits the definition perfectly:
To the idea that hell is seperation and God can't get near icky sin, I like to ask whether we are seperated right now.

They aren't torturing... they're punishing.

Wasn't the basic idea behind the inquisition that it better for the victims to suffer their finite torture on earth for the sake of their immortal souls
and therefore avoid the eternal torture of hell.
So the church felt justified that it was doing Gods work.
Saving souls from hell
God, being so compassionate doesn't like having to send anyone there
but being so pure cannot have unrepentant sinners in his presence.

God is already shown to be imperfect and evil from within the bible itself:

He creates evil yet christians claim he can't stand evil.

He allows good and evil to live on the earth together and making it very possible that many innocent people will be killed and tortured, yet he is suppose to be giving everyone free will

All of which is done without any human being asked ahead of time if they would want to be involved in his game play
