Default Man claims to have found missing link, sues school board

Yesterday I ran across a story in the West Virginia state record that a man named Kenneth Smith is sueing the Jefferson county, WV school board to remove evolution from the curriculum. He claims to have disproven the Human Genome Project and to have proven a creator. Smith also says he worked at the Central Reference Laboratory in Anaheim, CA but I can't find the website of this organization. I also can't find anything about Smith online either. I just want to know if anyone, especially the WV infidel members have heard about this. Here is what Smith has to say:

Quote:
He claims the board should be teaching genetic facts, and that "the genetic normal human species, which all humans descended from, did in fact exist," the complaint says.

Smith also states the Board of Education must think about removing all of its evolutionary exhibits and declare that an American has discovered the genetic "normal." Smith said he has a large manuscript that denounces the Human Genome Project while acknowledging a greater creator.

"This Human Genome Project has indicated that humans are just a mere result of many different cellular mutations, caused by environmental effects upon our DNA compositions - Darwinism,"
The guy is clearly a loon and hopefully his case gets thrown out of court.

I thought the HGP was created to map the many genetic codes and not to provide evidence for evolution (although it would inadvertantly do so).

I love this type of creationist. The association of this nut with the anti-evolution crowd is great PR for us, yet he so devastatingly stupid you can be sure everyone will write him off.

Smith claims his findings show the human genome is not possible.
So they're just making all this genetic stuff up? Those nutty Darwinists.

The Central reference Lab in Anaheim appears to do medical samples. This man ran a centrifuge. They don't, apparently, do genome sequencing or anything else particularly relevant to his claim.

I think he should publish it in Science or Nature first, before he goes to court to get the curriculum changed.

Ah. But you're thinking like a sane person. I don't think the gentleman in question has quite the same grasp on reality.

Although I hate the thought of courts wasting their time on stupid things like this, the day he's laughed out of there should be worth it.

This is the part of his quote I like best:

Quote:
"But there is a human genetic "normal" and no singular significant genetic discovers will arrive, until the air is cleared of this blinding clouded dense foggy mist, which prevents out minds-eye from seeing the truth clearly that most every form of man walks in ethically during his lifetime."
Pure woo-woo; substitute whatever (free energy, aliens made the pyramids) and leave out the word "genetic" before discovers and it would fit right in. It's classic pseudoscience babble, applicable anywhere. Beautifully written, sir. :notworthy:
