How does someone stalk someone else on a message board?
I don't know, but you once accused me of it, so it must be possible. I guess, one way to do it would be to wander onto another board, find a thread someone is participating in, and call 'em names and stuff. That might be a kind of stalking.

And why for pete's sake do some of ya'll spend huge amounts of time on a message board where you clearly feel like you are being treated badly and unfairly??
Because there are other people being treated even more unfairly, and I have a lot of friends there. And, when I have the strength to actually do what I'm supposed to do, and stick up for 'em without fighting back, well, I'm supposed to do it. It's not a particularly optional thing. Honestly, it's not even optional when I don't have the strength; if I could get back in my groove, I could probably just let the anger go and keep doing it, 'cuz God provides us strength. But I'm not so good at this stuff, so sometimes I take a bit of a break.

I lost a lot of faith in CF when they put in that "objective evidence" rule. I know we don't always exactly agree on the homosexuality debates, but your testimony, it seems to me, is entirely relevant to the discussion, and a policy under which you're not supposed to share it is a pretty bad policy.

And Seebs, your need to feel "important" is really sad, almost as pathetic as your need to post a swan song
at CF. When people decide to leave a message board why in the world do they feel to make it into a sopa opera?
I don't think my vacation post counts as a "swan song". I just figured I'd let people know, because last time I disappeared for a while, a lot of 'em freaked out.

Anyway, yeah, I know, I shouldn't want to be important. It's a flaw. Anger and pride are the big sins I have to wrestle with, and I'm not exactly good at it.

Er.

Didn't you know? That's why AngelAmidala is the ultimate mod at CF. Highest post count gives you the Senator role.

Ah...good. My ignore list here wasn't NEARLY full enough!

Good to see you here, Seebs, despite the sniping because you believe in treating other people as people.

Well, I tried treating them as birds, but it was too hard telling their songs apart, and I tried treating them as video games, but my wife slapped me whenever I tried to execute combo moves on someone else.

I've been absent from CF for a number of months now as a result of a lack of internet access, and am currently debating whether to re-immerse myself in it. I get the impression that the overall atmosphere has grown to be more hostile, and as a result, this decision will be one I shall consider carefully.
I myself have only earned one warning (from flesh99), and I admit freely that it was honestly deserved. I am aware from personal observations and my time over at Shamansplace that there was biased moderation, but none of it seemed to drift in my direction.

MIA, I wouldn't discourage you from taking the plunge again. I went for a long time, and I tried to observe their rules as best I could. The apologetics forum is actually dominated by nonbelievers. If you conduct a poll on a religious question and leave a slot open for nonbelievers, about half of the respondents turn out to be nonbelievers. The problem, in my case, was that I got noticed. I enjoy posting in religious discussion forums, but I don't have the time to fight losing battles with immoderate moderators.

If someone comes in with an obviously troll nickname--they are watched closely and often banned soon because they are trolls and deserve to be banned. Sometimes people who are already banned re-register with another name, (sock) and the name strikes the mods as strange so they check IP's and immediately ban the sock name because re-registering when banned is against the rules.

I tried treating them as birds
Well, that's your problem right there. Humans are even more touchy than birds. I mean, you disturb a nesting female cockatiel and she'll hiss at you and bite your fingers, but a crochety female human on the Net will bite your ego, your id, and your superego (if she can get her filthy hands on it). Also, humans aren't as nearly well-behaved. I sometimes make the mistake of forgetting my parakeet or my cockatiel is on my shoulder and use my fingers to brush my hair back, hitting the bird. The bird will be angry for that moment, but have forgotten about it the next and still love me. Humans will bring it up for weeks. "You forgot about me! You're like evil and stuff!"

And humans won't let you preen their heads or keep them in cages or play vigorously with silly things like shoelaces. No. Keep birds if you want good pets. Humans suck as pets.

I once proposed that, when we were ready to have kids, we'd fill a closet with shredded newspaper and let Jesse hide in it. So, rodentia, maybe.
