Are we allowed to make fun of other websites here?
Found this on RR.......... "What is the most miraculous prayer God has answered in your life? Hi Girls! I was thinking about this question yesterday after posting my story about the problems my DH and I are having. Even though we are still struggling through some difficult things, God answered a huge prayer for me in my marriage. I remember the day after my hubby told me he was gay and leaving me and the kids, we all went to the mall for shopping and lunch. I remember sitting at the table waiting while he got the kids' food and his just praying my heart out that God would "fix" him and make him want to stay with me. I knew in my heart that it was impossible, that he would be leaving us - we just didn't seem compatible, you know? But I prayed anyway, telling God I knew he wanted us together, that he hates divorce, and that I knew he could do anything. I begged God for my hubby to stay. God is so amazing! Within a week, DH had decided to stay. He had spent time with his Christian counselor; he had read and learned about what God expected of him, and he decided to stay. What an answer to prayer! And so FAST too! So I was wondering, what is the most miraculous answer God has given you in answer to your prayers? __________________ YSIC, Dawn" http://www.rr-bb.com/showthread.php?t=157963 Skeptic Pete |

Nice job, El Goddo, keeping those incompatible people together. And way to settle for next to nothing, Dawn!

Jaysuuzzzzzzzzz, I just visited that rapture site. Certainly did learn sumpin: god starts cars
![]() The one common factor that seems very apparent with all these simple-minded born-agins, fundies, etc is their total self-absorption. god starts their cars, gets them better jobs, prevents their spouses from running away with a gay person and on and on infinitum. And yet their god seems to not have the time to notice that there are starving children picking rags on garbage dumps around the world, that young girl-children are sold into sexual bondage before they even reach puberty etc, etc. Methinks their near-sighted god needs a values adjustment or at the very least a new set of glasses. |

Rapture Ready is one of the most bizzarre websites I've seen in qiute a while. They speak of the rapture as if they are completely convinced that it will happen. It's not a belief to them anymore... it's an established and proven fact to them. Same with the existence of God and Jesus, of course. Evidence is apparently irrelevant. They speak of the EU being the resurrected Roman Empire, and that Javier Solana is the antichrist.
Oh, and an atheist being logical is an oxymoron. Just look at the logic :) "Without God, there are no absolutes. Without absolutes, there is no right or wrong. Without right or wrong, there is no basis for logic. An atheist professing logic is oxymoronic." (http://www.rr-bb.com/showthread.php?t=158318) |

My one experience over there was disappointing and disheartening to say the least.
A thread here at IIDB linked to an RR thread called The 7-Fold Power of a Wife's Submission. While looking at it, I noticed that one of the posters raised the issue of domestic violence. In response, I sent this post. The essays I cited therein are the only pieces of religious writing I keep in my collection of favorite essays. I never attacked the faith of the RR posters, and while I had to register simply as "Deacon," lest the mods dismiss me out of hand, I openly signed the post with my full IIDB name. My intent was solely to offer some real help, though I did want the secondary gains of showing them that atheists weren't bad people and could appreciate certain of their plights. I only hope it did some good in the lives of any abuse victims reading. As it was, I got no thanks or even hostile replies on the board -- I appear to have been completely ignored. My guess is they were thinking, "How DARE this evil Satan-loving, God-hating, unbelieving evil amoral immoral self-loving pleasure-worshipping kitten-roasting puppy-butchering goldfish-torturing always-looks-fat-no-matter-what-he-wears (gag-choke-cough-splutter-gasp-retch-sneer) ATHEIST think he has any right to speak in OUR presence!!!" DD -- LOL! I found this gem on that site in a newer thread:

I have an idea how that study was conducted: "Ma'am, are you happy?" Wife: "Well..." Husband: "Damn it, Jill, tell 'em you're happy!" Oh yeah... just fan-friggin-tastic. Aqua |
