notice that the colour red is aroundabout 666 nanometres in the visible spectrum? and is it a coincidence that Satan is portrayed as a red devil? I THINK NOT.
Sorry, but recent scholarly research indicates that the original satanic number was 616.

I suppose we're going to have redo the spectrum as a result.

I expect that much of your way of living is predicated on denying this simple truth. It is more than just saying there is no god.

If there is no god, then much of what you hold dear is merely mental masturbation. If I were you, I'd look closely at the house of cards you've built on denying this simple truth. If your life would be no different if there were no god then god is irrelevant to it to begin with. If it is different, then this truth does matter to your life and you've based your life on an ungrounded assumption. To me this seems to be a mistake. If I'm to base my life on something, I'd want it to be something more than guessing and hoping that some magic invisible guy is going to make it all ok in the end.

MY view is that it is up to us to make the world better for our children, here and now because in fact, we are not immortal.

Lets assume here, that the God of the Christians exists.

Now, we all know about how Satan was cast into hell or something when he made a mess of things on Earth. My simple question is: how can Satan manipulate us from his prison? Does he possess powers that circumvent the powers of God? It doesn't make sense...
Transplanar, these are some of the questions that I would really like to have answered, but you will never get a good answer from a Christian, since it is completely illogical. These questions are some that helped me give up the beliefs I had in Christianity.

I come from a Mormon background, and this philosophy is just hilarious. Mormons believe in "free agency" on the one hand, but on the other hand they say Satan is trying to influence us to do "evil" by putting bad thoughts in our heads. Well, if Satan is putting "bad" thoughts in my head, how do I know which thoughts are mine and which are Satans? If they are Satans thoughts, then how do I have free will when I think they are my thoughts?

If Satan cannot influence my thoughts, how can he influence me? And apparently it has to be indirectly, because otherwise I then cannot make decisions myself. So how does he do it indirectly?

Obviously, the idea of Satan is complete bunk.

For a really cool look at Satan, check out Peter Stormare's portrayal of him in Constantine. I own that DVD and just love the wonderfully nuanced performance - I've seen it about a million times and I'll see it a whole bunch more times!

Yup, but there are still some sects around that put a lot of emphasis on this bunk.

What's interesting is that mainstream Christianity seems to have left Satan and his host of demons far behind. Poor god is left to take all of the blame when floods, and hurricanes and tsunamis hit.

Satan is God’s alter ego. It does not make sense that Satan has powers capable of circumventing God’s will because they are one and the same. It creates the problem in the first place when you separate out what is evil from what is good in the universe, not only setting up a false dichotomy, but also according each face of God separate entity status, forever obscuring the creator’s true nature in convoluted ideology.

Everything is a part of God - including Satan (or the concept of satan; your pick)

Maybe, maybe not. 616nanometres is still reddish, bordering on orange, if I recall my spectrum correctly.

Could always redefine the Hertz.
