Poor guy...or gal. I have had to deal with the same problem. What helped me was taking time to think about what attracted me to such forums in the first place, figuring out what it was I wanted that I wasn't quenching from these forums, what I legitimately could receive here...and starting out fresh with a new plan.

Introspection really helps, even though it might hurt a little...or a lot. I wouldn't recommend self-ban - you'd spend a lot of time feeling bad for making that decision. And feeling anxious about when you could get back on. And worrying about the addiction is kind of as bad as the addiction itself.

I never feel sorry for hot girls
All they have to do is bat their eyelashes and all their problems go away.
I think that's why they chose a hot chick for the main role in "I Dream of Genie". It's just a huge metaphor to illustrate a social commentary.
Go ahead and try to prove me wrong

I get distracted like that sometimes. If i've really got to get something done, I'll set an alarm for half an hour, work during that time, then give myself 10-15 minutes to check out the board or whatever. It is pretty lame, but, you get to get both things done, and you don't feel guilty for reading the board.

LoneWolf hates to do it. It will be hard but it is for Megusic's own good. LoneWolf steadies himself and takes a deep breath...

GO! We don't want you here! We hate you and we don't care about you! Leave! Go! I said LEAVE!!

LoneWolf quickly turns away before Megusic sees the tear stream down his face. Maybe, just maybe Megusic will forgive him one day.

I'm bad too, I get wrapped up in threads and find the discussions irresistable. I often subscribe to threads that I never reply to. I always liked this board, even back when I was a lurker. Now I am entrenched. There so much to read here, and so little time. tsk tsk on me. I have stuff to do and I procrastinate too much... because I'm busy reading IIDB. Maybe I need a self-ban, too.

PS: dear Admins, plz do not ban me, kthx

Sorry about the sex/gender confusion. I am exhausted from bringing Dan Dennett to campus, so I didn't have time to check your profile, before I wrote anything.

If studying is so boring, maybe consider finding something to study related to what you enjoy so much about IIDB. Just a thought.

First semester, I had the same issue and a lot of it was just that I wasn't taking the right courses...things I could immerse myself in and learn about free-thinking too.
