Not currently possible, theoretically or experimentally, to travel faster than light travels in a vacuum. Note well, that scientists have tested the implications of the postulate and found that they fit. That is a critical difference.

Confidence based on what? Oh yes . . . science. A parachute works because of the way things work which we know understand. Your false analogy is a bit like stating we have "belief" that a rock, when dropped, will fall.

Faith is belief without--I would add despite--evidence.
