Default Is God the author of confusion?

Would a benevolent God create confusion?

Doesn't Jesus come out and say that he is going to say conflicting things to confuse the unbeliever?

Ahhh, here we are:

Luke 8
9His disciples asked him what this parable meant. 10He said, "The knowledge of the secrets of the kingdom of God has been given to you, but to others I speak in parables, so that,
" 'though seeing, they may not see;
though hearing, they may not understand.'

1Corinthians1
18For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. 19For it is written:
"I will destroy the wisdom of the wise;
the intelligence of the intelligent I will frustrate."

So, your answer is yes.

Thank you.

When have I ever suggested the Christian God was benevolent? Though, I did assume you meant the Christian one in your post.

Okay then. Mark you down as one who does not believe your god is benevolent.

Got it.

I dunno, I guess it might help to ask said god. Anyone able to trot "god" out past their imagination so we can ask it some questions?...or do we have to suffice with all the confusion that comprises each of the numerous belief systems? :huh:

Sorry about that.

This thread is addressed to Christians.

I'm looking at 1 Corinthians 14, which states that God is not the author of confusion, and I'm looking at Genesis 11, which states that God caused confusion.

Any Christians want to chime in?

"Do not think that I came to send peace upon earth: I came not to send peace, but the sword. For I came to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law." (Matthew 10:34,35)

Jesus did not mean that this is what he wanted, but he knew that this would be the result of his preaching. Human error is to blame for the confusion. Those who trying turning Christianity into what they want it to be ultimately won't fare any better than those who reject Christ outright.
