I'm big on words. I read a shit load, I make the effort to learn the basics of languages, living and dead. I'm no genius--I get by. But when it comes to numbers, I'm completely illiterate.
The most laughably inept Gospel is that of Matthew. I can pick it apart blind-folded and its probably because of this rather than in spite of it that its become the focus of a Christian bible code. No matter how far-fetched, unfounded and historically flawed the text is, the fundamentalist can fall back on convoluted arithmetical miracle. Its a final refuge. So without further ado, here's an article. I'd appreciate any clear-cut explanation, PUT IN SIMPLE TERMS SO A DUMBASS LIKE ME CAN UNDERSTAND. Or a link to an like-minded essay, article, footnote. For all I know, it may very well be a miracle. Seems like a lot of mumbo-jumbo. http://www.patriarchy.bfree.org/bfree/bcode_nt.htm |

Prophesies and codes have a tendency to be accurate only after the fact. If there was a clear-cut message that can describe something accurately before a particular event, then that would be significant. From looking at that page, just look at how many numbers they have to multiply, divide, subtract, add, whatever, in order to find something significant. You can take any book, or any phrase, and run some numbers, and find something that may be "significant," but which would simply be due to random chance. For example, look at assassinations foretold by Moby Dick! |

That was always my reply: Why and how does one go about dividing, multiplying these particular words phrases, etc?

I did a google search hoping to find an understandable proof-positive. I stumbled across the Fundy anti-Islam site where it disproved the mathamical miracle of the Qu'ran. It made sense. The funny thing was they turned it around AS proof of the divinity of the NT.
Oh, well. It turns out it wasn't such an impressive schtick after all. That's the first time my gut-feeling was right. |

Yep, you can invent some of your own. Off the top of my head, my full name (first, middle, last) has 20 letters. Multiply that by 20, and you have the year that I graduated college. Now, if you look at the number of letters in my law school, you would see that there are the same amount of letters present in the city I moved to immediately following law school! Oh wait, and the state that I live in has the same amount of letters as the prior two things! And that is exactly half of the number of letters in my full name! Coincidence?!? I think not. Oh wait, you can twist numbers around to mean anything you want, there is always "coincidences" abound if you look hard enough. And racecar spelled backward spells racecar! Ahhhhhh!!!!1!1!1!!!1 |

Yeah, isn't that funny? Christians use science and logic to prove wrong other religions, but it somehow doesn't occur to them that science and logic can be used to show how silly their beliefs are. Wishful thinking if you ask me. Or "what I don't know, can't hurt me." "La la la la la la la la la la, I can't hear you using science against my religion!" Maybe the next line is: Therefore, the Christian God exists. |

Sweet Muppet Jesus! Racecar spelled backwards is... Oh, I've led a life of Sin! Forgive me, Count Von Count!
It took me awhile, but after a little searching on the net I found the origins of the Matthew code and the logic behind it and how hopelessly flawed it is. Its so simple even I can understand it. http://cs.anu.edu.au/~bdm/dilugim/ So, that's the end of that. If I'd just kept my mouth shut and searched for it on my own I wouldn't have had to admit to being a numerical idiot. |
