I've given you my definition of nature. That it meshes so well with the generally accepted definition that has developed over hundreds of years is of no consequence.

You seem to be implying that my being highly impressed by the purity and grandeur of nature isn't good enough for you.

Clearly, you're incapable of accepting what personally inspires others unless it meshes with YOUR definition of personal inspiration. Why am I not surprised?

So I'll say it once again:

NATURE EXISTS. NO ONE DOUBTS THAT NATURE EXISTS. NATURE DOES NOT NEED CONVERTS TO CONTINUE EXISTING; IT DOES NOT NEED FOLLOWERS TO CONVINCE OTHERS OF ITS EXISTENCE. NATURE DOES NOT THREATEN ME IF I DON'T KISS ITS A$$. NATURE IS QUANTIFIABLE, AND INFINITELY MEASURABLE. NATURE DOESN'T KICK ME OUT OR DEMOTE ME IF I DON'T GIVE IT MONEY OR LIP SERVICE.

And finally: NATURE CONTINUES TO BE PHYSICALLY COMPLETE IN AND OF ITSELF, WHETHER MAN EXISTS OR NOT.

Can you say those things about your god?

Go on, please. Answer my question, won't you? Spill your guts. Do not be afraid.

God damned ???

I was of the impression you were a christian.

Now if you say that about the holy spirit, you will have qualified for the second death, you know.

Different people are going to get weepy about different things. I don't know that "weepyness" is a good indicator of the validity or worth of any particular item.

I can be impressed by how big/small/tall etc something may be, but that doesn't mean that I feel driven to worship it, or that I will necessarily fear it (and "awe" does originally mean "great fear or terror" - what I wonderful attribute for a loving diety to inspire, eh?).

I can see a beautiful sunset or landscape and think "wow, that's really beautiful!" but that also doesn't entail my worshipping that very beautiful thing.

Worship is kind of a foreign concept to me and I can't understand why so many people seem inclined/driven to engage in it. Besides, in my experience all those acolytes can really get underfoot.

cheers,
Michael

Leah--

Only a Christian can say God damned and truly mean it.

Scary Mary--

Nature exists?---- Wow ----What a great definition that is.

Michael---

I never have understood the very strange idea (at least to me) that worshipping anything at all has anything at all to do with Christianity.

What is worship?

Well? Don't be afraid. Spill it!

Share with us the proof you have that your god exists the way nature exists. Share with us the proof you have that your god can exist without man the way nature exists without man.

If you can do those things, I will consider that your god could possibly be the guy in charge of this whole planet and everything on it, above it, and below it. Without those proofs, I'm afraid you're wasting your breath here.

Of course christians can't prove their god exists because it has already been proven that he doesn't.

Worship seems to be something that the vast majority of visible theists seem to do. You know, the reason they've got all those big churches/cathedrals/mosques/temples/sacrificial altars etc.

I can see Deists not engaging in worship, but pretty much all the other theistic religions I can think of seem to do it (though some of them seem to engage in more of a placation of the deity instead of a worship).

cheers,
Mcihael
